Watercolor Paintings of Home and Family

These fine art watercolor prints portray Preston Steed's view of "home" in America. Because his father was an oral surgeon in the Air Force, his family lived throughout the United States and overseas. Many of these fine art prints are representative of the images that he carried with him as they moved from one home to another. Since his marriage in the early 80's, he and his family have lived in small, rural communities in Texas and Colorado. His current life experiences and travels continue to provide inspiration for these rural art prints of America's communities. These watercolor prints are not only visual, but evoke responses from our other senses, as well: the metallic call of an opening gate, the whiff of fresh cut grass, the percussive bang of a slamming door, the velvet softness of a puppy's belly, the quick cool when you move from sun to shade, the clicky buzz of cicadas. In every possible language, these fine art prints say -

WELCOME HOME!

I unconsciously decided that, even if it wasn't an ideal world, it should be. So I painted only the ideal aspectsof it - pictures in which there are no drunken slatterns or self-centered mothers... only foxy grandpas who played baseball with the kids and boys who fished from logs and got up circuses in the backyard.

— Norman Rockwell
